Description

Acorus calamus is a marginal pond plant suited to wet banks, marshy ground, and shallow water around the pond edge. It forms upright, fresh green foliage with a light aromatic character and gives strong vertical structure in naturalistic and classic pond planting. This species is best used along pond margins and in consistently moist soils. It dies back in autumn and produces fresh new growth again in spring. Mature height is about 60–80 cm, and recommended planting depth is 0 to 40 cm below the water surface. Best for: wet-bank planting, floating wetlands, marsh edges, natural ponds, koi ponds, swim ponds, and helophyte filter zones.
